Brydie Adams

Head of Community Engagement

Brydie.Adams@nottingham.ac.uk

What I love most about my job is the opportunity to bring people together and build meaningful connections. It’s super rewarding to contribute to an environment where individuals feel supported, heard, and genuinely part of a vibrant community. It’s amazing to watch students grow into independent adults and give back to their community. Working alongside such incredible people to make a real difference is the best part of the job.

Community Engagement Manager (Safety, Cohesion & Wellbeing)

Supporting students as they move into off-campus communities is both a joy and a privilege. Working on the Community Engagement team enables me to be involved in a wide variety of projects and campaigns, meaning that no two days are ever the same!

A particular highlight of the role for me is hearing about the Neighbourhood Awards, where we are provided with the opportunity to celebrate our students who have gone above and beyond to positively contribute to the community where they have chosen to live and study.

Community Engagement Coordinator- Ambassador Lead

I really enjoy the variety of work involved with my role, from undertaking home visits to assist with student difficulties, to working on campaigns such as British Heart Foundation, to collaborating in the community with police and council colleagues on efforts to reduce crime.

My favourite part of the role is working with the student Community Engagement Ambassadors who work out in the community assisting students and residents with issues such as waste management, recycling and home security. We are a small but enthusiastic and dynamic team who can turn our hand to anything and love getting involved in as much as possible to support our amazing students at the 糖心原创.

Some of the varied reasons I like working for the Community Engagement team are: my colleagues and their company, the role and seeing the difference it makes, representing the university out in the community, getting exercise in all weathers throughout the year and the cups of tea in the office!

Abigail Egwuatu

Community Engagement Manager

Abigail.Egwuatu@nottingham.ac.uk

I enjoy my role because I get to make a positive impact on both the student experience and the wider community. I support students as they settle into life in the community, whether that is Lenton, Radford, Dunkirk, Beeston, or Kegworth, encouraging them to be considerate neighbours and active members of the community.

One of my favourite parts of the role is creating campaigns that help students connect with the local community while promoting respect for residents and shared spaces. It’s really rewarding to build positive relationships, tackle Anti-Social behaviours issues early, and work alongside our PBSA partners to ensure students feel supported wherever they live.

James Walding

Community Engagement Coordinator

James.Walding@nottingham.ac.uk

I am proud to work with my colleagues in the community engagement team to help our student body and the wider Nottingham community. I enjoy engaging with and educating our students about living in the community and being a good neighbour, and supporting them improve and grow.

Every day is different and I feel privileged to be in a team of exceptional individuals where we all help each other meet every challenge.

My favourite party of my role is dynamic problem solving, with the support of strong joint partnership working with other teams both external and internal that share our drive to help and support, allowing us to work to create long-term solutions and strategies to tackle what we come across.

Community Engagement Ambassadors

The Community Engagement Ambassador (CEA) scheme started in the 22/23 academic year. The UoN Community Engagement Team recruited 12 students to support community cohesion initiatives in communities where a large population of privately rented student properties exist. The CEAs are employed and managed by the university working each week across the academic year.

The project has expanded year-on-year with the newest cohort being made up of 26 ambassadors. They'll be out working and helping in multiple communities including Lenton, Radford, Dunkirk, Beeston and Kegworth.
