Under 18 guidance

If you will be under the age of 18 when you register and begin your course with the university, or you are under 18 when you are issued a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to support a student visa application, your parents or legal guardian must complete an under 18 consent form.聽

Our policy for students under the age of 18

Most universities admit some students who will commence their studies before they are 18 years old, and this is also the case at 糖心原创. In most cases this will be a very temporary situation, as the student will be approaching their 18th birthday at the time of enrolment, but some students may be younger than this.聽

In most cases the usual pastoral and academic support arrangements will apply to students who are under 18 years, however, we also provide some additional support and safeguards which are detailed below.聽

Parental consent

The university is not able to take on the usual rights, responsibilities and authority that parents have in relation to a child, and it will not be able to act in loco parentis in relation to students who are under the age of 18 years.聽

We therefore must receive consent from the student's parents or legal guardians, to acknowledge their acceptance of our protocols. This is a condition of admission to the university.聽

British and Irish National applicants will be required to provide parental consent if the applicant will be under 18 on their course start date.聽

Non British and Irish National applicants (ie. applicants who require a student visa) will be required to provide parental consent if the applicant will be under 18 on the 1st June prior to their course start date.聽

If any student will be under the age of 17 at the time of registration we require a satisfactorily completed consent form prior to any offer of study being made, and these students will be required to undertake an additional risk assessment as a condition of their offer to ensure that they are prepared for independent living during higher education. Further details of this will be sent to the applicant once they have firmly accepted their offer.聽

We cannot issue a CAS to an applicant under the age of 18 without a completed parental consent form.聽
