We appreciate that personal circumstances can have an impact on academic performance at school or college.
If you are applying to one of our five or six year Medicine courses, please note the following information about extenuating circumstances at pre-application stage:
All applicants must meet our minimum academic entry requirements and re-sit policies. We understand that circumstances outside your control can sometimes affect academic performance. However, we are unable to consider extenuating circumstances where they have resulted in lower grades being achieved, as we expect these to have been taken into account by the relevant examination board when grades are awarded.
We may consider extenuating circumstances, such as severe illness/hospitalisation, that lead to an applicant's period of study extending beyond two years for GCSEs and A levels (or equivalent qualifications) or the usual period of study for degrees.
If your GCSEs or A levels (or equivalent qualifications) were completed over more than two years we allow information regarding extenuating circumstances to be submitted pre-application for these applicants only, so that potential applicants can make an informed choice on whether to apply.
To request a review, please complete our . We recommend submitting your enquiry well in advance of the UCAS application deadline of 15 October to allow enough time for us to consider your circumstances and provide a decision. We will then guide you through the next steps via email.
If you receive an offer and experience extenuating circumstances after your offer has been made, please let us know by following the guidance below. This will ensure we have the information we need to consider your circumstances appropriately.
