Not attending?
There are many reasons why you may choose not to or be unable to attend a graduation ceremony.
If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony, you can either:
- Graduate in absentia and receive your certificate in the post and online following your graduation.
- Defer your graduation until our summer 2027 ceremonies. Please note, you can only defer your graduation date twice and you will not receive your certificate until your chosen graduate date.
You'll need to let us know how you would like to graduate by completing registration. Registration is open from 10am on Tuesday 20 October until 12 noon on Friday 13 November, and you'll receive an email to your university email address, or your personal email if you no longer have access to your university account, inviting you to register.
Check your details
Check your name and home address listed on are correct. The name that appears on your record will be the name used on your certificate. If you choose to graduate in absentia, your documents will be posted to the home address listed. The deadline for changing your details is 12 noon on Friday 20 November.
Update your name or address
There is also an option for students in certain specific circumstances to graduate earlier. Visit our 'Can I get my documents early' webpage to find out more.
