Dates lessons will not run in 2026

Swimming lessons will not run on the following dates:

• Monday 27th July - Sunday 30th August 2026 (inclusive)
• Monday 31st August 2026 (Bank Holiday)

 Lesson cancellations due to essential maintenance works at the Hydro pool:

• Tuesday 14th July 2026
• Friday 17th July 2026
• Saturday 18th July 2026
• Sunday 19th July 2026

Lessons will continue to run during the October, February, Easter and Spring term school holiday periods as before. This doesn't apply for Thursday Adult swimming lessons.

Swim teachers update

Over the last few months we have had a higher number of Swim teachers supporting on the lessons than usual due to new staff joining the team and ongoing training opportunities.

Moving into July we will be back to normal staffing which is a minimum of one Level 2 teacher per group and where possible an additional Level 1 teacher supporting with the lower stages.

During periods of staffing changes and recruitment of new instructors we increase our staffing levels to ensure new team members receive an in depth Induction and ongoing training plan. Through the year you will see our staffing levels fluctuate however we take advantage of the extra staffing to boost swimmers progress.

Parking

General parking advice

When attending your lesson you can park in any of the halls car parks available on campus.

Impacts to parking for June and July 2026

• Open days for prospective students on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June 2026. We strongly advise where possible parking off campus and walking to the David Ross Sports Village. If parking on campus, we advise coming in through the QMC entrance to avoid the main flow of traffic parking on the grass near the entrance.
• Sunday 12th July - Event 
• Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th July 2026 - Events

Parking with be busier than usual so please allow extra time for your journey and security will be available to direct you to parking spaces available.

Parking Mondays - Fridays before 4.30pm

When attending your lesson you can park in any of the halls car parks available on campus. If you are parking during the daytime Monday - Friday before 4.30pm, you can park in any of the halls car parks for free for 2 hours however you will need to register your car on the tablets available at the David Ross Sports Village reception or at the swimming pool.

Changes to parking from 2nd March 2026 - delayed

As you will be aware, there have been signs put up around campus saying that new parking charges will be implemented from 2nd March 2026. This has now been delayed so parking will continue as normal, free Monday - Friday from 4.30pm and all day weekends.

Additional parking

From Wednesday 25th February 2026, there will be additional parking available on the concrete area at the bottom of the drive to the David Ross Sports Village. This will provide an additional 150 parking spaces which will be available to customers only. Normal parking charges apply. 

Monday - Friday before 4.30pm you need to register at reception for the 2 hours free or use the Ringo app for over 2 hours. After 4.30pm and all day at weekends parking is free.
