1-2-1 Lessons

Our Swim School programme has supported hundreds of young people and adults to learn to swim or improve their skills from our extensive swimming facilities at David Ross Sports Village. 

Available to all ages and abilities, our 1-2-1/private bubble lessons are a fantastic way to learn to swim or develop your technique. Our expert instructors offer a tailored approach designed around each individual's need and personal goals. 

Our 1-2-1/private bubble lessons offer:

• Flexible lessons designed around the individual needs of the swimmer
• Qualified Level 2 instructors for every lesson
• Beginner, improvers and advanced level sessions 
• Private section of the pool designated for your lesson 
• Equipment provided throughout 

Joining our 1-2-1 lessons

Due to the high demand for our 121/Private Bubble swimming lessons, the waiting list is currently closed for the main programme.

During the children's school holiday periods, we do offer additional lessons available to anyone to book on a first come first served basis. Please see our School holiday page for more info.

Our 1-2-1 lessons are 5-week bookable courses - 30-minute lessons are £97.50 per block and 60-minute lessons are £162.50 per block (60 minute 121 lessons are only available Monday and Tuesdays). We offer options for all ages and abilities as well as a separate programme during the school holidays:

Private bubble lessons

Are now available as part of our Learn to Swim programme!

If group lessons are not for you and you would like private lessons with family members or friends, then why not try our private bubble courses.

For Adults, the abilities must be the same either all Adult Beginners or Improvers or Advanced.

30-minute lessons are £15.50 per swimmer per lesson - only available in 5 week bookable courses. The days and times available are the same as the block 1-2-1 swimming lessons. To join the waiting list, please click the link for the 121 waiting list.

July Pay As You Go 121/Private Bubble lessons

Between Monday 29th June - Sunday 30th August 2026 the main 121/Private Bubble programme will stop for the summer. To maintain your space for September please ensure that you have money left on your payment plan. For some swimmers, you are aware that your instructors have left University; we are currently working on allocating hours for the next Academic year and will email updates once we know who your new instructor is, please bare with us at it will take some time to allocate hours.

Due to short staffing in July, we will be running a Pay As You Go (PAYG) programme with the instructors we have available to work. As the change to the programme in July is due to short staffing, the PAYG slots available between Saturday 5th July - Sunday 26th July 2026 will be charged at the same price you pay for your regular slot per lesson.

As a good will gesture as we appreciate that the short staffing in July is not ideal, we will be adding 2 free lessons onto each swimmers account to use towards booking lessons in July and the Summer Holiday programme. For 121 customers this will be £39; for Private Bubble customers it will be £31 per swimmer. 

Please be advised that as the July bookings are on a different booking system, we will load the credit notes onto this system so they will not show on your Home Portal and are only available to use for the July PAYG or Summer Holiday programme.

Please be advised that this programme will open for bookings as below:

• From Monday 22nd June 2026 at 9.30am, current customers on our 121/Private Bubble programme will be able to book any time slots available on a first come first served basis.

• ​From Monday 29th June 2026 at 9.30am, all time slots left available to book will open to group lesson customers.
