School of Life Sciences

Our Research Groups

The School of Life Sciences is the main focus for biological and biomedical research at the University.

100% of UoA24 (Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism) and 84% of the UoA5 (Biological Sciences) research submitted to REF2021 was judged to be ‘world-leading’ (4*), or ‘internationally excellent’ (3*).

Our research themes are focused on 'Planetary Health and Sustainable Living' and are delivered by four divisions that reflect our research strengths and represent disciplines in which we have critical mass. Each division promotes individual excellence, fosters team science and multidisciplinary activity, and encourage international collaboration in the pursuit of world changing research.
