The roles and responsibilities of Branch and Committeee members of UNISON are diverse and varied.
Branch officer posts are elected annually by individual ballot of members, in advance of the annual branch meeting.

Stewards (reps)
Stewards are active in different ways and to different degrees depending on their willingness and experience, ranging from high-level negotiators to local contacts in the workplace.
Our stewards can help you with a number of issues, including:
- Pay queries
- Bullying and harassment
- Sickness absence
- Capability
- Disciplinary
- Grievance
- Early retirement
- Contract changes (changes to Terms and Conditions of employment)
- Voluntary severance
- Dignity
- Special leave
- Pensions
- University policies
