Whether you're travelling by car, tram or train, getting to our Experience Days and travelling between campuses is easy. Most of our campuses are not far from Nottingham city centre.

The only exceptions are the School of Biosciences and the Vet School based at our Sutton Bonington Campus. This campus is still easily accessible by public or private transport.

The campus you need to travel to will be detailed on your booking confirmation email and on the UoN Open Days app. If your subject activity is taking place here, you should arrive at University Park Campus first and head to the Great Hall, Trent Building (building number 11 on the map

How to get here

We’re committed to making our university truly sustainable and encourage you to use public transport where possible.

Travelling by train

  • For University Park and Jubilee Campus, book a train to Nottingham railway station and catch a tram to the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ stop.
  • For Sutton Bonington we will reimburse your taxi costs to the campus from either Loughborough Station or East Midlands Parkway Station.
 

Travelling by bus

We have a strong partnership with Nottingham City Transport (NCT), which is a multi award-winning bus company. They are kindly offering free transport for offer-holders and their guests on the date of their offer-holder event.

To get your free Grouprider ticket for use on the Nottingham City Transport bus network in the City Zone . You'll receive an email explaining how to claim the ticket through the , which you will need to download (remember to check your spam/junk folders). Please note, it may take up to 48 hours to receive your ticket.

There are regular public bus services that run between the university campuses and Nottingham city centre. Download NCT's campus bus guide to find out more. The buses are fully accessible, with features like wheelchair access, audio-visual displays, and support for various disabilities.

 

 Travelling by coach

Nottingham is easily accessible by coach with arrivals to Broadmarsh bus station in the city centre. 

Our partners at National Express are offering visitors a 30% discount on travel to Broadmarsh bus station. To claim your discount, email us at SREvents@nottingham.ac.uk.

 

Travelling by tram and Park and Ride

To make your journey smoother and avoid traffic congestion, we highly recommend using one of the nearby Park and Ride sites and taking the tram to University Park Campus. The Nottingham Tram Network provides easy and convenient access to the university.

and park and rides are close to the M1, and the tram runs directly to University Park Campus.  

From Toton Lane - Park and Ride: 

  • Take the 'Toton - Hucknall' tram line to the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ stop at the south entrance to University Park Campus (please note, there are two stops on University Boulevard). 
  • Travel time: approximately 20 minutes. From the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ tram stop, it’s then a 10 minute walk to either of the Welcome Zones.

From Phoenix Park - Park and Ride:

  • Change lines at Nottingham train station and head towards University Park (see above for details).
  • Travel time: approximately 45 minutes. From the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ tram stop, it’s then a 10 minute walk to either of the Welcome Zones.

Tram tickets:

Please remember all tram travel is ‘buy before you board’. Please ensure you buy a ticket from the machine at the stop or via the NET app before getting on a tram. For more information including tickets and timetables, please visit the  website. 

 

Travelling by car

University Park Campus

If you're planning to travel to your Experience Day by car, we highly recommend using one of the local Park and Ride sites, rather than travelling directly to campus. See further details above. 

Road closure planned for Saturday 28 March: 

are currently carrying out significant roadworks around University Park Campus, with road closures planned for Saturday 28 March. This is likely to result in diversions and delays and impact your journey.

If you still plan to travel directly to campus by car, please:

  • be prepared for slow moving traffic on arrival and departure from campus
  • allow plenty of extra time for travel
  • check live traffic updates before setting off

Car parking is free on campus for your event, please ignore parking signage on site. Please also allow time to walk to your subject location or Welcome Zone. It is a beautiful and large campus, so this could take up to 20 minutes.

University Park Campus postcodes:

  • West Entrance: NG7 2QE
  • North Entrance: NG7 2QB - if you're coming from J25 or approaching from the west, please use North entrance. Please note that some sat nav systems may incorrectly indicate that this entrance is closed - it remains open and accessible. Important: Please avoid using the postcode NG7 2RD, as it will direct you to the wrong location.

Jubilee Campus

If your subject activity is based on Jubilee Campus, you should drive to University Park Campus - see above. From here, you can catch our free hopper bus service over to Jubilee Campus (approximately a 10 minute journey).

Sutton Bonington Campus

Park Lane road closure - please note that Park Lane road is closed due to local roadworks and will not be accessible from the A6006.

Please enter this campus via the West entrance on College Road from either Station Road or Melton Lane in the North. If you're approaching from the South, Park Lane will not be accessible from the A6006.

Blue Badge parking spaces are available at campuses.
