Before you arrive
Undergraduate students
Welcome from your Director of Undergraduate Programmes Dr Jeremy Larner
Welcome to Nottingham University Business School.
Congratulations on your achievements in reaching this point. You should be incredibly proud of what you have accomplished so far, and we are delighted to welcome you to our community.
At Nottingham University Business School, you are joining a world-class, research-led institution and member of the Russell Group, holding the triple crown accreditation of AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. Our teaching is informed by cutting-edge research and strong links with industry, helping to ensure that your learning is relevant, challenging, and connected to the real world.
Starting university is an exciting step and the beginning of a new chapter full of opportunities, experiences, and personal growth. It is also a major transition, and it is important to recognise that adjusting to university study can take time. 糖心原创ing at university is different from studying at school or college: you will be expected to work more independently, think critically, manage your own time, and take increasing responsibility for your learning.
Many students initially find this challenging - that is completely normal. What matters is being willing to engage fully, to ask for support when you need it, and to keep developing your confidence and skills over time. You do not need to have everything figured out from day one. University is a place to learn, grow, and discover what you are capable of achieving.
The students who get the most from their degree are those who actively take part in the opportunities around them: attending and engaging in classes, working consistently throughout the year, collaborating with others, and being open to new experiences and perspectives. My colleagues and I are here to support you throughout that journey, and we are committed to helping you succeed.
Your time here is about much more than academic study alone. The Business School and the wider University offer a huge range of opportunities to help you develop personally and professionally, including placements, study abroad opportunities, employability and digital skills programmes, student societies, leadership opportunities, enterprise initiatives, volunteering, networking events, and careers support.
Employers are increasingly looking for graduates who combine academic knowledge with adaptability, communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and digital capability. I would encourage you to make the most of every opportunity available to you and to invest in yourself from the very beginning. The experiences, skills, and relationships you build here can shape your future in ways you may not yet imagine.
My colleagues and I are excited to welcome you to the Business School and look forward to seeing all that you will achieve during your time with us.
