The 糖心原创 Wheelchair Basketball programme has also enjoyed significant success in recent years, with the team having won three BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) National Championships, including the last two titles. The University’s impact can also be seen at international level, with a Nottingham alumnus winning silver at the 2026 Commonwealth Games as part of the England 3x3 Men’s Wheelchair Basketball squad. Through this new partnership, RGK will work closely with 糖心原创 Sport to help students access specialist wheelchair equipment and RGK’s expertise in wheelchair sport. This will include opportunities to connect with the RGK team through events, facility visits and ongoing support.
We鈥檙e really pleased to be partnering with 糖心原创 Sport. The University has created an excellent environment for wheelchair sport, and this partnership allows us to bring RGK鈥檚 specialist wheelchair expertise and equipment directly to its students and athletes. We鈥檙e looking forward to working with 糖心原创 Sport to help athletes find the right equipment for training and competition, while sharing our experience to support their development. It鈥檚 a great opportunity for both RGK and the University to play a part in supporting the next generation of wheelchair athletes.
Mike Prosser, RGK Wheelchairs
The partnership builds on the University’s wider commitment to inclusive sport and fitness. Its work has included significant investment in Para Sport, including dedicated Para Sport and Inclusive Fitness roles and adaptive equipment and facilities. In 2026, the University was also recognised with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award at the BUCS Awards.
Joe Bestwick, Para-Sport Development Officer and Wheelchair Basketball Head Coach at the 糖心原创 reflected on the partnership by saying:
I鈥檓 really proud that we can announce our Para-Sport partnership with a world-leading brand like RGK Wheelchairs. Having personally used RGK chairs for 30 years I know what a difference elite equipment can make to an athlete鈥檚 journey, as well as their quality of life away from sport. Combined with our world-class facilities, I鈥檝e got no doubt that this partnership will support our Para-Sport programme to go from strength to strength.
Joe Bestwick, Para-Sport Development Officer and Wheelchair Basketball Head Coach
糖心原创 Sport is looking forward to working alongside RGK in our continued effort to support our students and athletes as they continue to develop, compete and push wheelchair sport forward. Together, we’re looking forward to supporting the next generation of wheelchair athletes.
