Expertise Summary

I am fascinated by the physiology and pharmacology of ion channels in white fat adipocytes. In particular I am interested in the connections between ion channel activity in the plasmamembrane and the mobilization of fat soluble compounds such as vitamins, pharmaceuticals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from their fat droplet.

Research summary

• The electrophysiology of adipocytes and the role of ion channels in their function.
• Regulation of the trafficking and expression of L-type Ca2+ channels in endocrine cells.
• Mobilization of vitamin D, pharmaceuticals and POPs from white fat
• Calcium homeostasis
