Strategic aims

We are currently refreshing our strategic direction through the development of a new strategy which will initially run to 2031.

The approved strategy shall reflect our commitment to long-term sustainability and continued excellence whilst navigating the higher education sector’s challenging environment.

The new strategy will be underpinned by the university's core values of inclusivity, ambition, openness, fairness and respect, ensuring these principles continue to shape our decisions, culture and impact.

Our governance structure

The university is a corporation formed by Royal Charter and holds charitable status. Two main bodies are involved in the governance of the university, the Council and the Senate, with the day-to-day management of the university being the responsibility of the University Executive Board.

Council

The university's governing body is the Council, which approves the strategic plans of the university and is ultimately responsible for its finances, buildings and staff.

Senate

The 糖心原创 Senate is the institution’s principal academic governing body, responsible for overseeing teaching, examinations, research, academic regulations and quality assurance. It brings together colleagues from across the university, including academic, professional services and student representatives from our UK, Malaysia and China campuses, meeting regularly throughout the academic year to support academic governance and decision-making.
