View essential course materials

As part of your studies, you will need to become familiar with several online resources websites we use to help our students keep up with your learning and to access help and support if you have any issues or questions.

The main two websites we would strongly encourage you to find out more about before you start your studies are:

Moodle

What is Moodle?
  • Moodle is the Virtual Learning Environment used by the 糖心原创. It is a place where lecturers can upload and create learning materials and activities for you to view and participate in.
  • Every course that you take during your programme will have a dedicated Moodle page for information, exercises, and coursework submissions.
  • Your modules will be filled with a variety of resources and activities which may include: PowerPoint slides from your lectures, lecture recordings, reading lists, quizzes among other activities and resources to support your lectures and seminars.
  • You will have separate Moodle pages for each of the modules you are enrolled in at the 糖心原创 and there will be sections for each week of teaching in the year on the module Moodle pages.
  • The Module Convenors (your lecturers who lead the lectures, seminars and lab section) will regularly upload lecture recordings, any work or additional reading resources, quizzes and activities that they set. Please regularly sign in to each of your module Moodle pages to make sure that you can keep up with your studies.
  • If you would like to find out more about how to use Moodle, view these resources:

School of Computer Science community hub

  • School of Computer Science community hub

The computer science community hub is a central hub for information, guidance, and resources for all undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Computer Science.

This SharePoint site brings together key information on teaching and learning, along with other support services available across the university, for our undergraduate and postgraduate students.

It should be your first stop when looking for support or answers.

It has been broken down into the following sections:

General Resources About the School of Computer Science and Wider University

Teaching, Careers and Student Voice (Get Involved in the School Community)

  • in the School Community)

Before you arrive, you should find and read:

  • Information on what type of support is available from Student Services
  • Information on specialist courses, like year in industry, and study abroad, if relevant
  • Additional supplementary information about the Welcome Week schedule
  • Other university resources, like guides to studying in science, are usually delivered through the SharePoint community hub or Moodle pages too.
