Biography

I am an early-career researcher dedicated to translating evidence into practice to improve clinical and societal outcomes. I was recently awarded a Medical Research Foundation self-harm and suicide fellowship for my project, "Improving the Identification, Understanding, and Support for Self-Harm in Autistic People Across the Lifespan: Validation and Implementation of the Self-Harm Questionnaire - Autism (SHQ-A)."

Prior to this fellowship, I completed an ESRC-funded PhD where I co-developed the SHQ-A, creating the first self-harm assessment tool designed specifically with and for autistic adults. My current fellowship will build upon this foundational work.

I have also worked as the lead postdoctoral researcher on a multi-institutional NIHR Programme Development Grant. This project was coproduced with underserved autistic adults to explore their healthcare experiences using creative methods and participatory systems mapping.

My broader academic outputs have directly informed national healthcare practices, including NHS England's guidance for mental health services and the NHS Futures Staying Safe from Suicide Resource Hub.

Current Research

My research primarily focuses on autism and mental health (with particular interests in understanding and preventing self-harm and suicidality), improving support and outcomes, and addressing stigma. I work closely with autistic individuals to ensure that research is inclusive, impactful, and relevant to their lived experiences.
