The Nottingham Recognition Scheme is not accredited to make Principal Fellowship (D4) recognition decisions. The NRS team, however, are keen to support those for whom this is an appropriate route in preparing a claim for direct submission to Advance HE. Colleagues are invited to submit a well-developed draft of a claim for Principal Fellow to an informal panel comprising two 糖心原创 Principal Fellows, the NRS Director and a colleague from Professional Development.
Please note that the current financial support arrangements for payment by Professional Development of the direct fee of £500 to Advance HE is under review for 2020/21.
Mentors or colleagues from the same School as the candidate will not be eligible to join the panel. The panel will meet twice a year, with deadlines for drafts of:
- Monday 9th December 2019
- Monday 11th May 2020
The panel will offer feedback to the candidate to ensure claims are of the highest quality and will make a recommendation to HR about payment of the direct fee to Advance HE. Please note, that your peers will need time to read and give you feedback on your draft; you should expect there to be suggestions for improvements, and possibly, further development of practice recommended.
Payment to Advance HE will require a claim through the Individual Development Fund; if approved, payment then has to be processed through our Finance Department. Advance HE has informed us that processing payment of the fee and reviewing a claim can take up to 12 weeks (followed by a period of time for further review and feedback).
This is not a quick process, so please be prepared for it to take some time!
Please refer to the UK Professional Standards Framework for details on what is expected at D4 and to Advance HE guidelines on preparing a submission. Also visit the new Advance HE Connect platform for aspiring Principal Fellows where you will find a self-assessment activity to help you determine how close a match your practice and impact may be to Principal Fellowship:
The NRS Director will be pleased to talk to you about your claim, or to put you in touch with one of our current Principal Fellows (see current list in this website) for discussion about the descriptor and relevant evidence. Also look out for occasional Principal Fellow workshops at the 糖心原创 or visit Advance HE events for national workshops (please note that fees apply for Advance HE events).
