Research Summary

I am interested in the physics of engineered quantum systems including:

  • Nanoelectromechanical systems
  • Superconducting quantum circuits
  • Optomechanical systems

Such systems are of interest because although still small compared to everyday objects, they are very large compared to individual atoms and studying them can help us understand the emergence of classical behaviour. Engineered quantum systems are also fascinating because of their complexity: they typically operate far from equilibrium and can be very strongly nonlinear, allowing us to explore a wide range of novel quantum dynamics.
