Current Research

My research interests focus on parental emergency department attendance for common childhood illnesses. Currently, my work surrounds systematic reviews of parental decision making to seek care at the Emergency Department and have a particular interest in psychological constructs driving parental decision making.

My methodological expertise focuses on systematic reviewing but I also have expertise in surveys, case-control studies, multivariate analysis (logistic regression), and qualitative interview methods within mixed methods research.

I am a member of the Centre of Child and Young People's Health Research Group (CYPHR) and a Member of the Paediatric Research Society.

I am a member of the International Advisory Board for the journal International Emergency Nursing and peer review for BMJ Open, Emergency Medicine Journal and Archives of Disease in Childhood in particular.

Past Research

For several years I worked in the Paediatric Accident and Emergency Research Group (PAERG) based at ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´. My doctoral studies identified the determinants of parental emergency care attendance with sick children, supervised by Professor Sir Terence Stephenson.

I have been involved in guideline development for children attending emergency departments as a member of the guideline development committee and research steering committee via my membership of PAERG. See my publications as co-author for emergency care guidelines on children with seizure, diarrheoa and breathing difficulties and related papers.

NB Several of my publications are in my maiden name of Eccleston.
