Biography

Eleanor Wilson is an Ann McLaren Research Fellow working on a study exploring end of life decision making with patient with Motor Neurone Disease using home mechanical ventilation. The study explore these issues from the perspectives of people with MND and their families:

Eleanor's background is in social science with an MSc in Medical Social Anthropology and PhD in Health Studies she is based in the NCARE (Nottingham Centre for the Advancement of Research in supportive, palliative and End of life care) research group. As part of her Fellowship Eleanor is building a body of work around the use of ventilation, decision making and end of life care in the home environment. Eleanor's work focuses on the provision of care for those affected by neurological conditions. This is linked to her doctoral study exploring the needs of those affected by Huntington's disease and the health care staff who provide their care. she has particular expertise in conducting flexible interviews on sensitive topics.
