From first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships, Research & Innovation provides guidance and expert advice to support the delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategies, and achievement of its RKE ambitions. 

We manage the research and knowledge exchange (RKE) portfolio (approximately £900 million in active research, training and KE grants) in collaboration with the academic community, and deliver against institutional and external key performance indicators in order to ensure the university’s compliance with major funders and government agencies.

Communication is key for bringing equality to the workplace

Description
Esther highlights the power of communication when discussing how she balances parental and professional responsibilities at work, and race and ethnicity topics where diversity appears to be lacking in a company. She also talks about the company she works for utilising positive action programmes to increase the representation of women in senior leadership positions.

How I developed my skills through the Nottingham Advantage Award

Description
Chloe decided to join the Nottingham Advantage Award as she wanted to develop her language skills as well as her employability skills. She took two modules and, on reflection, feels she has developed several important work-related skills, including communication, organisational and managing multiple deadlines.

Disability in the workplace? I consider it my superpower

Description
For Joe, his openness about his disability with his employer early on has led to him having a very positive experience in the workplace. Joe talks about how he manages work alongside attending doctor's appointments as well as coping with health dips. Joe says that by bringing your authentic self to work benefits you and the business. It's a win, win.

Bringing your unique strengths to the workplace as a woman

Marie Reynolds shares her view on women in the workplace and in leadership roles. She feels that women bring a number of advantages to the workplace and having parental responsibilities is respected by colleagues and managers. However, Marie says there is still a real lack of women at senior level. Find out more.
