Hello! I’m a 2+2 student studying Product Design and Manufacture on the BEng course, and I’m passionate about creating solutions for issues in science and engineering. From my experience studying in both 糖心原创 Ningbo China and the UK campus, I am exposed to different design cultures and backgrounds which help me design with a global perspective in mind.

My favorite part of my time on both campuses was using Solidworks as well as creating sketches to communicate various design solutions. I hope to use these skills to pursue a career in design for aerospace industries, building on my involvement in the university’s space society.

Clarity

Clarity is a modular, affordable dishwasher designed specifically for secondary school science laboratories. It tackles the issue of tedious, frustrating washing of glassware in laboratories for students and lab technicians. Clarity streamlines this task into a safe, educational activity whilst providing thorough cleaning.

The dishwasher includes two main parts: the main component provides the essential task of washing, and the small, optional unit offers two-stage filtration for recirculation and feeds demineralized water to the main washer. The shell of the washer is made up of the robust stainless steel 303, which provides Clarity’s one of a kind durability when paired with mild acids. Clarity also features a simple touchscreen interface which is height adjustable, perfect for users already accustomed to smartphones. Furthermore, Clarity makes maintenance easy. With just a pull of the bottom drawer, the user is able to access all the internal components, including the jerry cans for the detergent and acid.

Inspired by a multitude of home and laboratory dishwashers, Clarity combines various features such as, customizable racks, injector washing and dual spray arms in order to provide efficient cleaning, minimizing use of water and electricity, perfect for future scientists.
