With the Future Nottingham 2 (FN2) Final Business Case approved by University Council, the next few years will see a number of changes at the university.
The FN2 Final Business Case was approved by University Council on Thursday 1 October. It proposes a number of changes to student support, staff workloads, and the way that the university is structured.
What's changing?
-
Student support: We will introduce a new ‘Tutoring for Student Success’ model for taught students, replacing traditional personal tutoring with a clearer, more structured system of guidance and support.
-
Academic structure: We will move from a faculty model to a three-college structure – Health; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Science and Engineering. This will help simplify governance and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
When is it changing?
Nothing will change immediately. Changes will be rolled out gradually over the next three years. New leadership structures will be in place from January 2027 and we'll transition to new college structures from August 2027.
If you want to know more about the changes being proposed and what it will mean for you, please check your university email address for information about the planned engagement sessions.
Accessing further information
We will be hosting engagement sessions to give all students the opportunity to find out more about the upcoming changes, and to ask any questions. These will be faculty-specific, so please try to join the engagement session for your faculty. Register for the relevant engagement session below to receive your joining link.
Please note that these sessions are intended for taught students. Postgraduate researchers will be able to find their engagement sessions on the Researcher Academy SharePoint.
Support
All students will be supported in transitioning to these new structures. Anyone currently studying on a course that is due to close to future students will be supported through their studies.
If you have questions about the upcoming changes, you can reach out to your personal tutor, Here for You guides, or your head of school. If you're worried about the impact any changes may have on you, you can book an appointment with a Support and Wellbeing Officer.
