The FN2 business case – which contains proposals for the latest iteration of institutional change – was approved by University Council on Thursday 1 October 2026. We will now progress to the implementation phase.
Future Nottingham has been in development for two years. Phase 1 has already delivered significant financial resilience to the university. Phase 2 builds on these foundations with the aim of strengthening our academic model; creating capacity for reinvestment in areas to improve student experience; and restoring our financial resilience.
This decision point is the culmination of the last year’s work on the Future Nottingham programme.
What happens next?
There will be no immediate change to your academic circumstances following approval of the business case. Changes will be implemented gradually over the next three years to ensure a smooth transition.
You will receive an email on Monday from your Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor advising you of any particular upcoming changes for your area of study. You'll also be invited to a student engagement event where you'll have the opportunity to find out more about FN2 and the upcoming timelines for change.
Accessing support and further information
If you have questions about the upcoming changes, you can reach out to your personal tutor, Here for You Guides, or your head of school. If you're worried about the impact these changes may have on you, you can book an appointment with a Support and Wellbeing Officer.
For more information about FN2, please check your university email inbox. We'll continue to send updates there as the programme progresses.
