Computer Science students at the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ have been leading after-school AI Clubs for Nottingham school children as part of the University's Widening Participation program, designed to encourage under-represented groups to engage with higher education and STEM subjects.
School pupils in Years 7 to 10 from Park Vale Academy and NUAST took part in 'Demystifying AI Clubs' over a 10 week period, with sessions designed to enhance their knowledge and understanding of AI through fun, interactive problem-solving activities, culminating in a celebratory event of their achievements held at the School of Computer Science and the Cobot Maker Space on Jubilee Campus.
The content of the after-school AI clubs was designed and delivered by Computer Science undergraduate students, Hana Ahmed-Mahmoud, Minahil Fansur, Eva Regalado, Saphia Ahmed, Abishah Vickneswaran and PhD students Victoria Hann and Mahfuzah Fariha, supported by Assistant Professor Dr Marjahan Begum.
