Biography

Associate Professor Dr Siti Khadijah Zainal Badri, who publishes as Badri, S.K.Z., is an academic in the School of Psychology at the 糖心原创 Malaysia, where she has served since September 2016. Her academic work focuses broadly on applied psychology and wellbeing, with particular interests in workplace wellbeing, occupational health psychology, mental health, leadership, and contemporary challenges affecting individuals and organisations.

She obtained both her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and undergraduate degree in Psychology from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor. Alongside her research and teaching, Siti has held several academic leadership and service roles, including Chair of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Research Ethics and Integrity Committee, Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange, Senior Tutor, and Disability Liaison Officer within the Institute of Work, Organisation and Wellbeing.

Expertise Summary

Siti's research expertise spans health and occupational health psychology, with much of her work centred on mental health and wellbeing. Her research seeks to understand the factors that shape people's health and wellbeing, the consequences of these experiences, and the social and psychological mechanisms through which they occur. Her work covers both working and general populations, with particular attention to young people and the younger workforce.

A key interest in her research is understanding health and wellbeing within the realities of people's lives. She examines how experiences across work, personal and family life, together with wider social and economic conditions, can influence how people experience and manage their health and wellbeing. Her work also considers contemporary changes such as evolving work demands and conditions, technology and digitalisation, and the new challenges these may create for individuals and organisations.

More recently, her research has extended to workplace mental health governance, where she examines how mental health is understood, governed and managed within organisations from both policy and practice perspectives. This work considers not only the presence of workplace mental health policies and support, but also how they are translated into practice, where responsibilities lie, and the practical challenges organisations face in supporting mental health and wellbeing at work.

Current Research

Currently, Siti's research focuses on workplace mental health governance and the changing expectations around employee health, wellbeing and organisational responsibility. She is particularly interested in what happens between having mental health policies and making them work in practice. Her work examines questions around who takes responsibility for workplace mental health, how psychosocial risks are recognised and managed, how organisations support employees, and where gaps emerge between policy intentions and people's actual experiences at work. Much of her current work examines these questions within the Malaysian context, while considering their wider relevance to contemporary workplaces.
