Biography

I am a glacial geomorphologist and Assistant Professor in the School of Geography with research expertise and interests related to climate-glacier-landscape interactions. My current research is mainly focused on glaciers and glacial environments in the sub-Arctic and Arctic.

I teach a variety of physical geography topics across the undergraduate programmes in the School of Geography, with a particular focus on polar environments, glaciology, and glacial geomorphology. I also deliver teaching on research methods, such as geomorphological mapping and remote sensing.

In 2022, I was awarded the by the Quaternary Research Association, recognising my significant contributions to Quaternary research as an early career researcher.

I deliver teaching on a range of physical geography topics across the undergraduate geography programmes and the MSc in Global Environmental Sustainability. My teaching particularly focuses on polar environments, glaciology, glacial geomorphology, and climate change. I also contribute to teaching on geographical research methods (e.g. geomorphological mapping, geomorphological change detection, GIS and remote sensing).

I am currently the Research Tutorial Coordinator for the second-year undergraduate geography programmes, as well as the module convenor for GEOG1037 Planet Earth: Exploring the Physical Environment and GEOG3069 Extreme Environments. During the 2026/27 academic year, I will be teaching on the following modules in the School of Geography:

Current Research

My research interests and expertise are related to climate-glacier-landscape interactions, with a focus on glaciers and glacial environments in the sub-Arctic and Arctic. More specifically, I am currently interested in, and open to collaboration on, the following research themes:

  • Evolution of glacial landsystems
  • Quantifying ice-cored landscape dynamics in the Arctic
  • Plateau icefield dynamics in the sub-Arctic and Arctic
  • Topographical controls on ice-marginal processes and dynamics
  • Glaciological and climatic significance of ice-marginal moraines

As part of my research, I use a wide range of methods that span glacial geomorphology, glaciology, remote sensing, geophysics, and programming/statistical computing to understand glacier dynamics and glacial landscape evolution. A particular focus of my current research is leveraging DEMs and statistical computing (in python, R) to quantify glacial landscape dynamics.
