Nicky spoke to Midwifery students about life as an independent Midwife, covering the ups and downs of one of the most challenging careers out there!

Why I gave my time:

I’m absolutely passionate about Midwifery, and I want to inspire other people to enter the field. I really enjoy answering questions from the next generation, so I get a lot back from the experience.

Why I gave my time:

University was instrumental to my success, so I want to give back. Inspiring the next generation of engineers is satisfying and a great opportunity to help students proactively looking for a job - maybe even at my firm!

Khrishina Mistry

Khrishina came back to speak to Maths students about her challenging career in analytics:

Why I gave my time:

When I was a student, it felt like the only real options were going into finance or teaching. By coming back to speak, students get to understand the variety of jobs that Maths graduates can go into.

Why I give my time:

People think they’re not allowed on campus unless they're a student - but they are! We want everyone to know about the beautiful grounds and to discover the joy of spending time here, just as l have.

Andrew Marsh-Patrick

Associate Director at Sustainability and Energy at WSP UK

Role: Careers speaker
Volunteer David Marsh Patrick

Andrew came back to speak to Chemical Engineering students:

Why I gave my time:

My firm takes on graduates each year, so coming back to meet students enables us to source some amazing talent. Anyone looking to bring the next generation into their organisation should definitely come back and speak to current students.

Alexandra Clark

Nutritional Sciences,

2014

Nutritionist at Slimming World

Role: Spotlight on Nutrition speaker
Volunteer Alexandra Clark

Alexandra spoke to students about a career in the Nutrition sector.

Why I gave my time:

It's such a rewarding experience to know you’re helping students at a critical time in their lives. You also get to see what fellow alumni volunteers have gone on to do; it's interesting to hear how I could use my qualification in a different way.

Why I chose to mentor

Alumnus Graham Kill (Mining Engineering, 1987) is a Portfolio Director and Chair of various commerical boards and chose to mentor a current student.

"It doesn't matter where you are in life's journey, there's always something to learn from somebody else's experiences and perspectives and mentoring is a great way of doing this. I would also hope that other alumni gained a great deal as students at Nottingham, and would feel like giving something back".
