Language Centre Module Enrolment: Spring semester 2019

Description
Students can diversify their degree course by choosing a language module for credits. At the Language Centre we focus on providing language modules with the emphasis on communication. The modules are supported by the virtual learning environment Moodle, digital classrooms and a Self Access Centre for independent learning.We offer 10 credit modules in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Slovene and Spanish. The levels range from Stage 1a (complete beginners) to Stage 6 (near native speaker competence). It is possible to improve existing skills or start a new language.

Mathematical Sciences Prize winners 2017/18

The school's prize giving event was held on Wednesday 31 October in the Mathematical Sciences building with Dr Vanessa Smith presenting the prizes.

The discovery of new bacteria-resistant plastics to reduce the incidence of hospital acquired-infections, one of the UK's most significant heritage regeneration projects, a one-in-a-million snail and keyhole surgery for jet engines were some of the research projects recognised at the University's Knowledge Exchange and Impact Awards 2018.
