General training opportunities at UoN
The 糖心原创 offers a range of institution-wide training and engagement opportunities to support Open Research practices across disciplines. These include annual events such as , which brings together researchers from across the region to explore developments in transparency, reproducibility, and responsible research, and Research in Action Week, which promotes discussion, awareness, and best practice in research conduct and governance.
In addition to these flagship events, researchers at Nottingham have access to extensive resources and support through the University Libraries, including guidance on open access publishing, research data management and sharing, preregistration and open protocols, and responsible use of research metrics.
Open Research training for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and early career researchers (ECRs) is delivered through a range of opportunities across the University. Some Schools provide discipline-specific sessions (for example, within the School of Psychology), ensuring that Open Research principles are embedded within subject-relevant research practices. In addition, our doctoral training programmes host targeted skills workshops—recent examples include training delivered through the ESRC DTP, forthcoming sessions for the EPSRC DTP, and workshops at the BBSRC PGR Conference.
We are also developing a dedicated Open Research workshop for PGRs and ECRs in collaboration with the Researcher Academy and Libraries, aimed at equipping researchers with practical tools to implement transparency, reproducibility, and responsible research practices in their work.
Together, these opportunities support researchers in embedding Open Research practices from the earliest stages of their careers.
We are currently working in partnership with the Researcher Academy to develop dedicated training for supervisors, aimed at supporting them in guiding postgraduate researchers and early career researchers in adopting Open Research practices.
This provision will focus on equipping supervisors with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to embed transparency, reproducibility, and responsible research practices within research design, supervision conversations, and project development. It will also address common barriers to Open Research and explore practical strategies for fostering a supportive and enabling research environment.
