Description
To round up this year’s focus on creativity – following a roundtable on creative methods and the LEGO Serious Play workshop – WHSCR will be hosting a creative non-fiction writing workshop with , to help us think of creative ways to write up our research findings.

Jessica teaches creative writing at the University of King’s College, and is the author of TurningTwo Trees Make a Forest, and Dispersals – as well as the children’s book A Garden Called Home, and co-editor of the essay collection Dog Hearted.

The workshop is split into two 2-hour online sessions:

  • Session 1: Tuesday 19 May, 2-4pm: on reconnecting with creative forms - inspired by hybrid nonfiction, poetry, nature writing, and memoir

  • Session 2: Wednesday 20 May, 2-4pm:s on collaboration and creativity - with exercises focussed on co-creation and community

Both sessions will include some short readings and discussion of texts, some warm-up prompts, and then one or two longer writing exercises. Jessica will also leave 10-15 minutes at the end for sharing, questions, and discussion.

Following the online workshops, there will be the opportunity to meet up face-to-face (without Jessica) to share our creative non-fiction writing projects, and perhaps take time to start writing! This optional follow-up session will take place on Wednesday 3 June 10:00-11:30 (B47).
