Biography

Iv谩n Campos-Guereta, also known as Juan, was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. His secondary school was in El Puerto de Santa Mar铆a, Spain. He studied his degree in Ingenier铆a de Caminos, Canales y Puertos in the (equivalent degree as Msc in Civil Engineering), with an specialty in hydraulics and energy, from 1992-98. At the same time he studied the first year of business studies in the , Spain. From 1998-99 he did the military service with the rank of second lieutenant. In 2005 he studied a Master in Business administration in the , Seville, Spain. And in 2017 he began to study a PhD in Civil Engineering in the 糖心原创, the Thesis is submitted for approval.

Expertise Summary

From 1999 to 2007, Iv谩n worked in , Seville, Spain, a large Spanish civil engineering consultancy firm. In AYESA, his work was focused in engineering design, mainly in the geotechnical engineering and hydraulical engineering areas, with special studies and design of dams. But he also developed many other works in other engineering areas like road and railway engineering. At the end of this time working in AYESA, Iv谩n become manager of a department of public concessions.

In 2007 Iv谩n founded its own small engineering consultancy firm and he developed, several civil engineering studies and projects related to the civil engineering areas of: land development, geotechnical, hidraulical, hidrological, structural, transport, coastal... with a direct implication of him in all of those works.

From 2013 to 2015, he was subcontracted by AYESA and moved to Peru to lead a team for the elaboration of a project to evaluate the technical alternatives for regulating the Chill贸n River to supply water to Lima.

In 2017 he moved to Nottingham to do a PhD. in Civil Engineering.

Research Summary

At this moment Ivan submitted the Thesis for approval with the topic: "Numerical prediction of hydraulic properties and moisture movement in railway track beds". The aim of this thesis is:

  • To create a fast, robust and hydraulic numerical model of a general purpose ballasted railway to analyze the saturation state of the rail track layers in time when several inputs are considered. The main desired properties of the model is to be fast and robust enough to admit the huge amount of different possible inputs.
  • Creating and formulating new expressions to predict the hydraulic properties of all kind of soils, from more basic geotechnical properties, that will constitute the inputs of the model. With special focus in railway ballast.
