Core outcome sets in Covid-19 research

This paper has just been published in Critical Care Medicine. Core outcome sets are an important way of ensuring trials measure the same outcomes and are more easily combined in systematic reviews and meta-analysis. That way we reduce research waste and develop new interventions which improve patient care more quickly. There is no area where this is more important or urgent than new treatments for COVID-19.

Allison Tong (based in Sydney) led a global project which worked with clinicians and patients to produce a core outcome set for COVID, with a rapid completion which is unprecedented. Prof Smyth (and many others) helped!
