Characterising genes by using plant variation

Understanding the connections between genotypes (the genetic makeup of an organism) and phenotypes (the observable characteristics of an organism) is hugely important for plant researchers. This project brings together researchers from the US and UK to characterise the diverse genotypes of these crops, using phenotypic data. Noting variation in shoot and root anatomical, architectural, and field traits, researchers will pinpoint the underlying regulatory genes and mechanisms that control these traits.
