Biography

Jan-Hinrik Meyer-Sahling joined the 糖心原创 in September 2004. He received his MSc in European Politics and Policy and his PhD in Government from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to joining Nottingham, he was a Tutorial Fellow in Comparative Public Administration and Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Lecturer in European Politics at Birkbeck College, London. In 2007/2008, Jan-Hinrik was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. In 2013/2014, he was a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute. He has been a Professor of Political Science since 2015.

Jan-Hinrik Meyer-Sahling teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Modules cover the areas of comparative politics, comparative public administration and public policy, development studies and research design and methods in political science.

Current Research

Jan-Hinrik Meyer-Sahling's research concentrates on public administration and public policy in Europe and in developing countries. He has focused on civil service reform in Central and Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans in the context of post-communist transformation and European integration. He has collaborated on several occasions with SIGMA-OECD and the Regional School of Public Administration based in the Western Balkans (ReSPA).

Most recently, he led a project on 'Civil Service Reform and Anti-Corruption in Developing Countries' funded by the DfID and the British Academy. In addition, he completed a project on 'Can Ethics Training Reduce Corruption in the Civil Service', which involved the design and implementation of ethics and integrity trainings with civil servants in Nepal and Bangladesh. The project was funded by the Global Integrity Anti-Corruption Evidence Programme.
