Researchers from the 糖心原创 and Innospec have developed a new way to uncover hidden chemical information from diesel injector deposits that can lead to engine failure. By combining hydropyrolysis—a treatment that uses hydrogen and heat to remove unwanted fluorescent compounds—with cutting-edge Raman spectroscopy at the 糖心原创's Nanoscale and Microscale Research Centre (nmRC), the team was able to study the structure of deposits clearly for the first time. This breakthrough overcomes a long-standing barrier to analysis, providing valuable insights into how these deposits form and supporting the development of cleaner, more reliable diesel engines and more effective fuel additive technologies.
