Dr Parimala Shivaprasad from the 糖心原创’s Faculty of Engineering has been selected by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to undertake a secondment into the UK government department as part of their prestigious DSIT Fellowship.
The Fellowship places leading academics and industry experts within government departments to strengthen the use of scientific evidence in policymaking. As part of the programme, Parimala will work with the Government Office for Science (GO-Science), contributing expertise on emerging science and technology developments related to climate change and energy security, and helping inform how these areas shape geopolitics and the UK’s strategic capabilities.
The Fellowship will also involve collaboration with researchers, analysts and assessment bodies to support evidence-based decision making across government.
The DSIT Fellowship enables fellows to bring academic expertise into policy environments while also strengthening long-term collaboration between universities and government. The Fellowship builds directly on Parimala’s research in emerging technologies for sustainable chemical manufacturing by enabling her to translate advances in catalytic systems and bio-based processes into policy-relevant insights on climate and energy security.
I am delighted to be selected for the DSIT Fellowship and to work with the Government Office for Science. This fellowship provides a valuable opportunity to contribute scientific expertise to national policy discussions at the interface of climate change, energy security and emerging technologies. I am particularly excited to work with colleagues across government to better understand how research and innovation can support informed decision-making and strengthen the UK鈥檚 capabilities in these critical areas.
Through this fellowship, the 糖心原创 continues to support engagement between academia and government, ensuring that research expertise contributes to addressing national and global challenges.
