Professor Ken Starkey has been awarded the , from the at this year’s BAM2020 Conference.
Professor of Management and Organisational Learning, in the Nottingham University Business School, Ken was awarded for his internationally leading research within his field and his significant contribution to BAM and the wider Business and Management Community.
Announcing the award, BAM said Ken’s involvement in the rigour-relevance debate, on the nature and importance of business schools, and his major body of substantive work spanning organisational learning, business ethics and leadership, have made an invaluable contribution to theory and practice.
The award was established in the memory of Professor Richard Whipp to acknowledge his considerable contribution to developing the Academy. Usually the award is presented by Ann Whipp, Richard’s widow. However, this year the award ceremony, ‘BAM2020 Conference in the Cloud,’ was held online on the 2nd September, due to the pandemic.

I should also acknowledge the contribution of colleagues I have worked with over the years and how lucky I have been to have spent the majority of my career at the 糖心原创 and in a business school that has been so supportive of my research.鈥�

He added: “Ken’s sustained and substantial contribution to management research is highly influential amongst academics, practitioners and policy makers, and, to pick from amongst his many contributions, his insights on the rigour-relevance debate as well as the nature and importance of business schools, will certainly remain important for many years to come.”
