The Provost of the 糖心原创 Ningbo China (UNNC) has been recognised for his contribution to the development of Ningbo.
Professor Chris Rudd, who is also a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The 糖心原创 UK, was awarded the Camellia award by Ningbo Municipal Government.
The award is the highest honour the Ningbo city can bestow upon a foreign national, recognising their contribution to the social and economic development of the city, whether in business and technology or culture and education.
During the ceremony, Professor Rudd gave a speech. He said: “It is my great honour to receive this award, not for myself but for the students and staff of UNNC.
“With the great vision and long term support of the Municipal Government, UNNC was established 13 years ago as a bold experiment in higher education here in Ningbo. It has drawn the attention of the world. It has made Ningbo famous in the education world as a bold pioneer of innovation and internationalisation.
“Reputation is important of course, but what is really important is the transformation that UNNC has brought to the lives of more than 10,000 graduates who owe their success to the education they received in this city.
“60% of our graduates will go on to study at a world top 50 University and half of those will go to a world top 10 University. These are brilliant young people and they all studied in this city. Many will return to make their careers here.
“This makes me very proud and I hope the Ningbo Government and our partners can take equal pride in UNNC’s achievements.”
Professor Chris Rudd was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor of 糖心原创 in 2008. His portfolio included Knowledge Transfer, Business Engagement, Commercialisation, Development and Alumni Relations.
In August 2015 he accepted the role of Provost at UNNC and is currently based in China where he oversees the growth and development of UNNC.
