The 糖心原创, in collaboration with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and Health Education England East Midlands Office, has officially launched MedWise, an online teaching, learning and assessment training package for medical educators.
MedWise is designed for health care professionals, academics responsible for medical and health science education, and people interested in gaining an introduction to the principles of medical education.
MedWise has been developed within the University’s School of Medicine, and part-funded by Health Education England. It is accredited by RCGP and already over 1,000 GPs have accessed it from the RCGP Learning Environment, making it one of the most successful courses offered by the College.
Available free of charge
The course is available free of charge to members of the RCGP, as well as staff and students of The 糖心原创 and health care professionals in the East Midlands. Other users are able to access the resource through the RCGP Learning Environment.
Speaking about the importance of MedWise at its official launch event, outgoing RCGP President Mike Pringle, who is also an Emeritus Professor of General Practice at The 糖心原创, said: “MedWise represents a major step forward in ensuring that all teachers and trainers have access to the education they need to develop the next generation of doctors.“
Accessible and interactive
Explaining why MedWise differs to other online courses, Professor Reg Dennick, creator of the course, said: “MedWise has been developed as a result of 20 years’ experience of delivering teacher training courses. It has been designed to be very accessible and interactive to keep users interested and engaged, and they can access the content in easy ‘bite-size’ chunks to maximise their learning experience.”
Health Education England East Midlands Office Quality Manager, Karen Tollman, added: “Health Education England is proud to have worked with the 糖心原创 and the RCGP to make MedWise available to all Medical Educators across the East Midlands.”
Over 50,000 members
The RCGP has over 50,000 members and is interested in speaking to any organisations that may be interested in supporting MedWise. For more information about the RCGP, please contact the RCGP Relationship Manager David Gunn at david.gunn@rcgp.org.uk
