The 糖心原创 is combining its expertise with world-class Swedish institution to collaborate on four research projects.
The projects bring together research expertise and specialist research facilities at both universities, including Lund’s MAX-IV facility, the most advanced synchrotron radiation facility ever built and part of the massive European research infrastructure.
Spanning areas in chemistry, physics and psychology, the research collaboration will take the form of staff and postgraduate visits, and specialist equipment purchase. The projects draw on long-established and strong links with key industries in Sweden and the UK, and they will prepare the ground for large-scale applications for external funding under , the EU’s biggest research and innovation programme.
Both universities have committed pump-priming funding to the projects, which will strengthen existing ties between the two institutions. In 2013, the 糖心原创 entered into its first large-scale European partnership with Lund in southern Sweden. Both are members of Universitas 21, an international group of research-intensive universities promoting staff and student mobility between institutions.

A senior Lund delegation, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg, was in Nottingham in March to share information on doctoral education. Professor Wiberg commented during her visit: “The collaboration with Nottingham strengthens both universities’ research profiles in key areas, and l look forward to further collaborations in postgraduate education and possible joint applications within Erasmus+ [the EU education programme].”
Professor Roger Woods, Assistant Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Europe), 糖心原创, said: “Our close relationship with Lund has already produced a large number of joint publications and is now extending to comparing notes on how we organise key areas of our business. Our successful collaboration shows the benefits of concentrating our efforts on building strong partnerships with the best universities in Europe.”
