Professor Claire Anderson has been elected president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Claire is Professor in the Division of Pharmacy and Policy at the 糖心原创 and will take over from outgoing President Sandra Gidley.
Professor Anderson has been at the 糖心原创 for almost 20 years where her research focuses on improving patient and public health in the light of contemporary health care reforms through designing and evaluating pharmacy practice and health service models and exploring patient's experiences of using medicines.
Claire has made a significant national and international contribution to the development of evidence, including developing and evaluating new professional roles for pharmacists. She also has an international reputation in research on pharmacy education and workforce development.
Addressing the RPS assembly Claire thanked Sandra Gidley for “her leadership and passion for our profession, particularly for leading the response to the pandemic.
She outlined that future priorities include; expanding the scope of the influence RPS has, as well as focusing on implementing change, and advancing the work the society is already doing around equality, diversity and inclusion.
I promise to always be equitable in my decision making, to stand alongside all our members and be an ally, to amplify the voice of pharmacy, to advocate for change and support future generations of pharmacists.
Clive Roberts, Head of the School of Pharmacy said: “Claire has long been a fantastic advocate for Nottingham on the international stage and a major contributor to our reputation in the profession. This is especially important at this time for Pharmacy education in the UK as we move towards new MPharm courses designed to meet the new education standards from the General Pharmaceutical Council and also the new HEE Foundation training programme that replaces the traditional post graduation Pre-registration training, so it is great to see Claire leading the RPS in its support of this important and exciting period for the profession and our students.
