It is an honour and privilege to be appointed President of the British Pain Society. The Society is one of the oldest pain societies in the world. The multidisciplinary membership from numerous specialties and backgrounds brings diverse perspectives on an issue that almost all people experience at some time. The Society has a vision of making pain visible and aims to advance the understanding and management of pain for the benefit of all people who live with pain. During my term as President. I look forward to working with my fellow Executive Officers, Council members, and society members to continue the work of improving the lives of people experiencing pain.

Matthew Hall, Executive Director of the British Pain Society said: “I warmly congratulate Roger on his appointment and look forward to working together to drive forward the strategic objectives of the Society. His expertise and judgement will be invaluable as we further develop our professional community."

Roger is committed to promoting the contribution of pharmacy professionals in pain management and the importance of providing the best pain management within pharmacy. His appointment to President of the British Pain Society is both richly deserved and a true testament to his professional reputation and standing in this important clinical area. To be the first pharmacist to hold this position is also an outstanding endorsement of the criticality of pharmacy to the management of people who live with or experience pain of an acute or chronic nature. Roger will bring his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role and will undeniably help lead this distinguished Society with his proven diligence and consideration.
