A 糖心原创 academic has been conferred a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences as part of its autumn 2026 cohort.
Professor Aditya Jain of Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) is among 74 leading social scientists to have been recognised for excellence in their fields and their wider contributions to the social sciences for public benefit.
is made up of distinguished individuals spanning a range of research and practice areas, including digital democracy, environmental sustainability, global justice, mental health and wellbeing, and social inequalities, elected for their significant contributions to social science.
As Professor of Sustainable Work and Development at NUBS, Aditya’s research explores how work can be organised and managed to create sustainable workplaces and organisations, with a particular focus on working conditions, decent work, lifelong learning, the future of work, and employee wellbeing.
The future of work will be shaped not only by technological innovation but by how organisations and institutions support people鈥檚 wellbeing, learning and security in times of rapid change. As machine intelligence and global transitions accelerate, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility, to ensure that work evolves in ways that enhance wellbeing, fairness and human development.
Social science provides the frameworks and evidence to guide this transformation. I鈥檓 proud to join the Academy of Social Sciences and to contribute to research and policy that help progress sustainable work and development for the years ahead.
Professor Jain's contributions to the field have been recognised by the American Psychological Association with an early career achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the study of work-related stress, by the World Health Organization for his leadership in occupational health policy, and by the British Standards Institution for his work in standards development.
He is Chair of the International Commission on Occupational Health Scientific Committee on Occupational Health and Development and External Relations Officer of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology. He is also an Academic Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE.
Our newest Fellows represent some of the most influential voices in social science today. Their work is expanding knowledge, challenging assumptions and generating insights that are informing and even redefining decision making across government, business, education and civil society. I am delighted to welcome them to the Academy and look forward to working with them to raise the profile and impact of the social sciences across the UK and beyond.
The 74 new Fellows have been elected from 38 UK organisations, including 36 universities, as well as think tanks, research institutes and public research funding bodies. Fellows have also been elected from countries beyond the UK, including Canada, China, Hong Kong, Macau and New Zealand.
