Dr Harrison's research specialism is DH Lawrence

He is founding editor of the . He is on the Editorial Board of the journal Katherine Mansfield Studies. 

Dr Harrison is Director of the  in the School of English (part of the School's ); a council member of the DH Lawrence Society of Great Britain; and a member of the DH Lawrence Society of North America.

Dr Harrison has worked with the local, national and international media to raise the profile of DH Lawrence and his links with the University and region.
