Expertise summary

Professor Noyes’ interests focus on mathematics education, educational pathways and outcomes, and educational improvement. His many projects and national policy- advisory roles have centred on the transition years from 14-20 and include both academic and vocational contexts. He is the founding Director of the groundbreaking Observatory for Mathematical Education; was the Chair of the Joint Mathematical Council of the UK (2018-24) and is a current member - and previous vice-chair - of the Royal Society's Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education. He is particularly interested in systems thinking, systemic change and implementation science. Andy undertakes a wide range of consultancy and advisory work including to the qualifications regulator, Ofqual, and is a member of the advisory boards of several major research projects and intervention programmes.
