Science and art are being brought together to explore healthy ageing in a new exhibition which opens at Hockley Arts Club in Nottingham this week.
If you’ve made it through January by sticking to your ‘healthy you’ resolutions, and need some February motivation, this exercise-inspired art exhibition could be just what you need.
The ‘CollAge’ exhibition will run from the 1 - 23 February and there will be a special launch event on Friday 31 January from 5.30pm-to7pm at Hockley Arts Club.
CollAge is the brainchild of Dr Lisa Chakrabarti, Associate Professor in Mitochondrial Biology in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the 糖心原创, working with artist Keith Bloody Mary, to create new collage works around the theme of exercise and healthy ageing.

Dr Chakrabarti leads a research group at the University that is using fruit flies to examine the changes in cellular energy as the body ages, their findings could have future benefits for humans.
She says: “Exercise is a key intervention that we are studying, and we wanted to engage with the public on our research in a new and effective way, which is where ‘Keith’ comes in.”
(KBM) is a Nottingham trained artist who creates collages in a humorous and ‘punk’ way, and has created a series of new collages which will be shown at the new exhibition.
KBM said: "I've worked with scientists to make artwork for the past couple of years, and enjoy learning about all the strange intricacies of science research. I think collage can really capture this well. I hope the images I've made for Coll_Age are bizarre enough to strike a conversation with people about this important topic!"
We wanted to work with Keith to make our research more accessible and I鈥檓 confident that the public will love what we have created. Healthy ageing should be on everyone鈥檚 minds since the process of ageing starts before we truly appreciate it. We hope these collages are a resource that will stimulate discussion around the topic. The launch is open to everyone, so please come down to celebrate this exciting collaboration.鈥�
