Experts at the 糖心原创 have developed a digital training package to help people in healthcare explain to patients why Covid-19 vaccine uptake is important.
The Covid-19 vaccine is being rolled out globally, yet achieving high and ongoing public uptake of the vaccine relies to some extent on the attitudes and behaviours of health and social care professionals. Some are hesitant to advocate the vaccine, or lack confidence in communicating about the vaccine with patients, clients and the general public.
The CoVE package has been developed by Dr Holly Blake, Dr Wendy Jones and Aaron Fecowycz in the School of Health Sciences at the 糖心原创.
The resource is aimed at health and care professionals, and healthcare students, to increase their understanding of the Covid-19 vaccine and to help them to explain to patients and clients why Covid-19 vaccine uptake is important for individual and societal health. It is free to access, takes about 20 minutes to complete and contains a wealth of further resources for an international audience.
This resource takes the form of a reusable learning object, and it was developed using ASPIRE methodology. This involved a rigorous six-step process including (1) establishing the aims, (2) storyboarding and co-design, (3) working with the target population, (4) implementation, (5) release and (6) evaluation. An international peer review panel has contributed to co-construction of the content and technical presentation of the resource.
Dr Blake said: “CoVE is an interactive, open access digital resource that will be useful and timely for supporting health and social care professionals in promoting vaccination uptake during the worldwide rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Now more than ever, we need people to have the vaccine to reduce their risk of catching or spreading Covid-19 and protect the vulnerable. This resource will increase knowledge about Covid-19 and help healthcare professionals and trainees to communicate the benefits of vaccination.鈥�
