Past Research

Involved in 6 Cochrane reviews on the effectiveness of different treatments for dementia. With Bob Woods developed and evaluated CST a useful and cost effective therapy for dementia with a similar effect size to drug treatments. CST recommended in NICE dementia guidelines, used in 25 countries and 90% UK memory services, and published as a manual www.cstdementia.com.

Led the development of the Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly (CANE) an effective, valid, and reliable assessment of needs, widely used in the UK and Europe to map needs/evaluate services. A book/manual was published in 2004. www.ucl.ac.uk/cane.
