The Mathematics Education and Scholarship section has many potential PhD topics with potential supervisors including, Katie Severn, Chris Brignell, Lisa Mott and Ria Symonds, please get in touch if you are interested or would like to find out more. Potential topics a PhD in the section may explore include:

• How different pedagogic and assessment approaches encourage greater engagement and later participation.
• Understanding of the process by which some groups of students buck the trends and increase progress, attainment, and participation.
• Evaluating degree apprenticeships in Mathematics.
• Understanding the emergence of preferences for postgraduate study through undergraduate programmes; variations by demographics, institutions, etc. and the impact of interventions.
• How undergraduate Mathematics can made a more inclusive environment to improve diversity within the subject.
• How the process of designing mathematics interventions can be improved by implementation theory to enhance evaluation and scaling.
• Longitudinal cohort studies of students to understand the trajectories of individuals and groups of students over time.
