Dr Joseph Shuttleworth obtained his MMath degree in Mathematics at the 糖心原创 in 2020. He then completed a Ph.D. in the School of Mathematical Sciences, 糖心原创, under the supervision of Gary R. Mirams, Simon P. Preston and Chon Lok Lei in 2024. Dr Shuttleworth is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Mathematical Sciences, 糖心原创, working under the supervision of Etienne Farcot.

Dr Shuttleworth's research concerns mathematical modelling of biological phenomena using data from real, biological experiments. Currently, his work concerns the modelling of auxin signalling pathways in plant cells using real, experimental data.
Dr Shuttleworth's doctoral work focused on the design of patch-clamp experiments for IKr-an important current in heart-muscle cells.
